    imax Melbourne

Since it’s opening in 1998, IMAX Melbourne Museum has quickly risen to become a world class facility already attracting over 4 million visitors. Housing the world’s (3rd) largest screen, IMAX Melbourne Museum provides moviegoers with the ultimate movie experience through its revolutionary projection system, 15,000 watt digital audio system and customised theatre geometry.
The movie theatre is located within the Melbourne Museum in Carlton, a 10 minute walk from the Melbourne city centre. The Museum is positioned just behind the World Heritage Listed Royal Exhibition Building and runs between Rathdowne and Nicholson Street. IMAX is positioned on the Rathdowne street end.
IMAX Melbourne Museum screens a wide variety of specially made large format films, many in stunning 3D. With the ability to be both informative and spectacularly entertaining, IMAX offers an unsurpassed movie experience for Melbourne moviegoers.
Open every day of the year (except Christmas Day) films usually screen on the hour, every hour from 10am to 10pm. The exception to this is when special digitally re-mastered feature length films are screened (see below). Please check session times using the Session Time search function.
Since 2005, IMAX Melbourne Museum has also offered IMAX versions of feature length mainstream movies that have been digitally re-mastered into the IMAX format. Projecting the biggest 3D image in Australia, IMAX Melbourne Museum also screens all the latest 3D films which are digitally re-mastered for the IMAX screen. Once you have your first IMAX Movie Experience, you'll never go mainstream again! Trust us......SIZE DOES MATTER!

I have visited it I went over to Melbourne from Perth for a holiday and you can't not visit the IMAX theater. I watched UP in 3D which was an awesome experience. The screen was just huge and the film was tremendous Really recommend if you are ever in Australia to visit Melbourne and go to the Imax cinema
