The new 3D processors will be cheaper eventually. Its just like all other technology that is new, it costs an arm and a leg to begin with but once you leave it for a while it becomes affordable

Ya a good alternative for the 3d home theater could be the 3d TV. It will be definitely cheaper than the former one and will serve you with all the features.

I do not want to comment any about the 3d Home theater. One of my friends who have used it has not got the required result.

3D TVs are in the affordable range for this holiday season. Some of the most affordable models are going for $1200 (just the TV). You'll also want a 3D blu-ray players, 3D glasses, and a hi-speed hdmi cable. You could get an entire 3D home theater setup for around $2000-$2500. HDTV's were this expensive not too long ago.
