watching 3d movie on a home theatre

My friend asked me this question and I did not have the right answer. He has a BenQPE8720 projector in his theater what he wanted to know about watching a movie in 3D. Now I am aware that there are two types of 3D projecting, the one that uses the red and blue glasses (which I understand to be not as good quality), and one that uses polarized glasses and projects images on two different light waves or something like that (better quality).

Anymore when you go to watch a 3D movie they use the polarized glasses, but most home theaters are not equipped to show the polarized type of 3D. My question is, how can i find out if my projector is capable of doing the polarized type of 3D... is it lumens? And second, since most people don't have the capability to watch polarized at home, do they even manufacture dvds or bds to show the polarized 3D or just the red and blue type.

I'm asking because i'm in love with this new Avatar movie and they don't show it in 3D anywhere near where i live i'd have to drive 4 hours to see it in 3D. So i'm wondering if I want to see it in very good quality 3D if i am going to just have to drive the 4 hours or if i can wait and watch it at home in the mind boggling quality that I want to see it in at the theater.

    Thanks.
    Hello there!

I am not sure if you are able to play 3D movies such as avatar without a 3D blueray disc player. The output is a lot more then it use to be on typical 3D DVD's. I suggest you drive the four hours and see it soon, it really is worth the trip. I'd drive a lot further if I had to just to see it

I don't think that you will be really satisfied by watching a 3d movie in Home Theater unless or otherwise you have a plasma or LCD TV. The work of home theater is only for the Sound Surround and not to increase picture quality or something. A plasma or a LCD TV with a home theater will satisfy you of a good 3d movie.

    Cz is correct
3d movies are not worth watching on home theater ,as it will not increase picture quality of the movie.
Only thing which will be better is sound quality.
Quality can be good if you have lcd tv.

Ya i also have the opinion that watching 3d movies on home theater does not provide that excitement which we wish for. hence it is advisable that we must see them in a good surrounding.

Home theater has always been a good option for all of us. But there could be other opinions for it. Personally, home theater satisfies all my demands.

A real 3D movies at home is now reality. I head the SENSIO 3D video processor is a 3D home theater system designed to work with conventional DVD players and CRT, LCD, DLP and D-ILA projectors.

Just watch it at the movies or buy a 3D television when they are cheaper
