    Hi ekta74,
Blue ray disc is another kind of disc to store data. It is not particularly used for 3d movies. Our task becomes very simple after using it.

Blue ray discs use a blue laser instead of the red laser that is used on Compact Disc(CD)/Digital Versatile Disc(DVD). Using the blue laser allows you to store up to 16GB on a blue ray disc as apposed to 700mb on a CD and 4GB on a DVD. Having the capability of storing up to x4 time more data is great because it means the graphics/sounds quality can be 4 times more detailed and powerful. This adds to the movie experience and you will easily notice the difference. The advantage of Blue-Ray in conjunction with 3D is the better the graphics and detail the better the 3D will look. Hope I've helped you learn a bit about the difference between the discs!

Just some additional info. Blu-ray discs are also referred to as BD and these were released in the market around 2006. I guess they are an exciting addition to current media formats, except there's just one issue: you need to have a Blu-Ray Player because you can't use it on a DVD or CD-ROM drive.

But Blueray technology is expensive as compared to other technology or simple DVD, that is also the reason why PS3 also failed because kids didn't afford that much expensive games on Blue ray discs.

I agree with pdesign there that Blu ray are expensive. One of my cousin sell his PS3 and buy XBOX 360 just because of that.! No doubt the video quality would be very nice.
